This is a rather controversial purchase for me. I am mostly a crop sensor fan. Nevertheless, there are some rare occasions when I need the extra width, especially when I get assignments involving me to shoot interiors. Canon’s full frame Digital SLRs do not have the speed I require, making me steer away from them. Knowing that this lens will not fit on my APS-H size Canon EOS 1D Mark III, I bit the bullet and bought this lens, because with an APS-C size camera in my hands, it is as wide as I can go and is still less costly than trading up for a full frame body, and resulting in a camera not able to keep up with my speed demands. So here is the welcoming ceremony of this lens on my desk greeting the Canon EOS 50D with open arms while my Canon EOS 1D Mark III looks on saying “How could you?” I turned on the live view to give an idea how wide the lens really is.
