5 Stars fast and reliable…great CF card!
I just got back from Kenya where I was shooting photos for my work and also took a lot of personal photos while on a safari. This card was great! I didn’t have any problems and never had to wait for the card to catch up to me. I took nearly 800 photos in RAW without having to fumble around swapping cards while bouncing along in the Maasai Mara. I highly recommend this card.

1 Star Extremely bad customer service
I had one of these cards burn up while downloading pictures. So I lost about 350 images.

But getting the card replaced turned into a LOT of messages back and forth from the “Customer Service” department. They just keep sending stock “Trouble shooting” tips instead of reading my messages or issuing and RMA. They don’t seem to have any intention of replacing the card. And at this point, I’m just going to post the card on the wall of our rental studio with a printout of all the messages from the “support team”

Maybe the 300+ people who use the studio will get the message, never buy Sandisk again.

I own quite a few 4-16GB CF and SD cards. I’m putting them on eBay before I lose more data.

5 Stars AWESOME FAST CARD!!
I have a Canon EOS 1D MARK II that will shoot 8.5 frames per second that i bought this card for. I do a lot of shooting at air shows, such as the U.S.A.F. THUNDERBIRDS, and the U.S. NAVY BLUE ANGELS. In the past I have used various cards including the Extreme II, and ALL of them failed me and were not able to keep up with me and the jets that i was photographing. Many times in the middle of a burst the camera would stop and I would have to wait several seconds for it to finish writing to the card…..which if you have ever shot an air show you know that even ONE second at an air show is an eternity to wait….by the time you blink it is too late you missed the shot!

This card kept up 99.9% of the time. There were only two times that it paused on me at a recent air show, and fortunately that was at the end of a burst. This card is blazing fast and I love it!!!

I am considering upgrading to the 1D Mark III…if I do then I will invest in the Exteme IV, but for not the Extreme III is one AWESOME card. I have two now, and will probably buy another when they come down in price.

If you are considering this card….then BUY IT! You won’t be disappointed!!!

I bought this for my wife’s Nikon D70 Camera. Sandisk has always provided us with excellent service. It was bought as an upgrade and it definately is fast

5 Stars Speed does matter
I have other Sandisk CF cards that have a lower writing speed but as I progress is learning more about photography, the research indicate that faster writing speeds were better for shots that involved wildlife and nature. I purchased what I could afford at this time and was amazed at how much faster this Extreme III card was over my other cards. It worked perfectly and we took over 500 shots in RAW format during a trip to Chicago recently. Great product.

5 Stars It’s not a Lexar but it’s VERY good!
I would prefer to use a Lexar CF for the speed and reliability but their priced so high it cuts into my lens budget! I’ve used Sandisks and found them a good solid card also but I was really leery of using a Kingston on a professional job. Speed is very important to me but also I want a very reliable card.

I shoot with a Nikon D300 using a D70 as a backup. I started using 4GB Kinston CF cards this summer – I just couldn’t ignore the great price and solid reviews. I use cards in less than ideal situations, a thunder storm, dusty dirty days, crazy hot days – so far not in snow… I have filled, downloaded and reformatted the four cards I purchased this year at least 10 times each. I’ve never had a card so much as hiccup. For the price it’s five stars!

so far the card has worked great! I have not maxed out the card and tried to put on the computer, however the amount of pictures that I have put on the card, downloaded without a problem. The cost was a great saving and the shipping time was wonderful! Will def. use them again and thank you, as I used this card when I went to Bonaire!

After some research I selected this 4GB CompactFlash card from Amazon for use in my Nikon D70 DSLR. Although the camera manual doesn’t mention this card as being supported, tests have shown that it works great. I can now shoot 700 images in Raw mode. And the card is fast enough for burst shooting in Raw. For my purposes, having 700 shots available means I can go a whole night of D70 astrophotography without needing to change the card. Great product, great price.

Here is what you need to know, though, if you are doing photography: This card is SLOW. And I mean, SLOW.

I am shooting a Canon 40D. I also have a Lexar 4GB 133x with technically the same stats. I have never had a problem with that card keeping up with my shooting.

With this Kingston card, I found that in Program mode, I could take only one pic every…oh, say 5-10 seconds. That was with it set to continues shooting mode. That is obviously unacceptable. Now, when I put the camera in the preprogramed ‘Sports’ mode, I was able to shoot (obviously) 70 shots very quickly…since that is the built in memory buffer of the camera. At that point, though, the camera couldn’t take anymore pictures until they were written to the card…which took…well…5-10 minutes. Now, as they write you can shoot more…but only at the rate of about one every 10 seconds or more.

SOOOO…. Do I think this product is good? It’s fine if you are just shooting grab shot of family and things like that. But if you are doing any sports (I shoot youth Soccer and Football games), you will be very frustrated with this card. If that is what you are looking for…go to the Lexar. If one pic every 10 seconds if fine, you will LOVE this card and the price!

I bought this card to go with my new Olympus E-510. It is has been great so far. It is a good deal for the price. Yeah it could be faster, but then again you can get the faster cards and pay much more for little perceived benefit.

I got this for $[...]. The rebate from Kingston was good! The card is excellent! No problem at all! It offers faster speed in reading 25MB/Sec compared to Scandisk Extreem III at 20MB/sec. The writing speed is the same for both brands.

Scandisk has offered a multiple rebates. However, the rebate from Scandisk is SCAM! They have all kind of reasons to deny your rebate. So BE CAUTIOUS

Highly recommended it.

2 Stars Works, but very slow
Got this card to use as some temporary storage in a computer. While the read speed on the card is perfectly reasonable (25-35MB/sec), the write speed is pitiful (1.5MB/sec, *at best*.) That makes it more or less unusable for read-write storage.

I use this card in a Canon 20D to shoot a wedding. I had no occurences of lag times and during processing, uploading was the same.

I’ve had no problems with the CF card since I’ve purchased it. SanDisk is reliable company.

If you ever do have problems with a CF card, just try reformatting it as that often fixes the problems.

While I have had many compact flash cards of varying sizes this card for the size and price was a much better bargain then those of the others. A lot of storage with a little price. Never had an fault or error and don’t think I ever will.

Works just fine in my Canon S45. Canon will tell you 2GB is the max for this camera (I think it formats cards FAT16), but this Kingston card seems to have come already formatted in FAT32. I just shot over 2GB of material, so the camera doesn’t seem to have any problems with large FAT32 cards–so long as they’re already formatted that way.

5 Stars Great card! Fast speed!
This is my second kingston compactflash card (another one is 4gb cf). Kingston never lets me down. It works great! Speed is very fast! There are faster CF cards available on the market, but if you want to use the cf cards on digital cameras, you don’t really need faster (than 133x kingston) cards. NO camera can take advantage of the faster cards yet. Anyway, this is perfect for digital camera (Dslr).

1 Star Card failed, lost vacation pics
Bought this card for my new Canon 40D, took it to Italy, and after a few days of shooting and unloading to back up the pictures, we started to get messages that the card was full (but it wasn’t), then it started to zap portions of the existing pics. Later the card failed, saying it was unformatted and it needed to be formatted, which of course meant my pictures for the day were gone. After reformatting it, it failed again about 30 pics later, then failed again after about 10 pics. We gave up, bought an overpriced replacement card at a camera shop, and had zero problems for the remainder of the trip, so it wasn’t the camera. Unfortunately we lost about 150 pics in the process of trying to figure out what was going on.

This card was quickly shipped. It works flawlessly in my Nikon D200 digital camera. It is fast, and easily keeps up with the frame rate of my D200. I will probably buy a second one as backup.

5 Stars Fast, reliable card
I used to have 3 2GB card and shooting concerts always ran out of space and would have to switch cards. In addition my buffer would get full and I would have to wait for the camera to write the images to the card. With this card I have never run out of space yet, and the write speed is fast so I don’t have to miss shots due to full buffer. Given the price of these is getting cheaper by the day I would definitely recommend this card. Oh and as bonus it comes with a little card wallet. If nothing else you can use it to keep spare change

4 Stars Had some problems, but overall very pleased…
Bought the 8gb Extreme III before going to a friend’s wedding, as I had also just picked up a Canon 40D and wanted to give the camera’s burst shooting a workout. All of the shots were captured quickly, I never had to wait for the camera/memory to “catch up” so I was generally pleased – until I got home…

Apparently it’s not such a good idea to mess with the file structure outside of your camera. I popped the card into my computer’s card reader and started to delete some blurry and duplicate shots I just didn’t need. I then popped the card back into the camera to take some shots around my house and the camera read “card not formatted”. At that point, I decided to pop the card back into the computer to see what the deal was. I almost had a heart-attack when I saw an empty folder where there had once been about 1300 JPG files. Luckily the story has a good ending… I used the RescuePRO software that came with the card and it found the files (even files that I had deleted manually from my camera during the wedding).

I would strongly recommend that you format your card upon first use and each time you swap between computer and camera (obviously, save the files to your computer before your re-format). After the RescuePRO memory recovery (took about 2 hours) and a fresh re-format, the card seems to work fine. I hope my incident helps current and new E-III buyers.

4 Stars Its huge and fast, although not so impressively fast
I used this to take pictures of a wedding, the space was great and completely neccesary and the speed is great too. I never had to think about the card because it was doing its work so well. I used it on a rebel xti and the speed of the camera improved (of course) over a Ultra II San Disc card. After I used it on a 40D and worked like a charm. The thing is, although it is noticeably faster, Im not completely impressed with it. When I transfered the files to the computer I used a USB II port and the speed was around 10MB/sec not 30. Maybe Im wrong in some interpretation here… I dont know. Thats not so important, the important thing is that the card never limits one to take pictures becouse it cant save fast enough.

Bottom line, its great, it does it work well and as far as I know I recommend it.

I recently purchased a Nikon D200 digital SLR camera and armed it with the SanDisk 8GB Cf card. It will hold approximately 1400 photos in full raw data mode and thousands in jpeg. This the only csrd I’ll ever have to buy for this camera.

5 Stars Fast + Lifetime Warranty
I’ve written/read at 39 MB/sec consistently, using an Addonics SATA-to-CF reader. The transfer rate is being limited by the Addonics device and not the Lexar CF card, I believe. Now part of Crucial/Micron, I’d expect Lexar to continue designing & manufacturing stellar, reliable memory devices.

I don’t have a UDMA camera, so I cannot comment on how it may speed up image capture, but I expect it would be fantastic for sports and wildlife photographers. I intend to use the card as a SSD to speed up HD video rendering.

5 Stars Just What I Needed
Lexar Professional UDMA – Flash memory card – 8 GB – 300x – CompactFlash

I use a a Canon 5D and love Lexar cards. From the first digital camera I had many years ago, I always got better response from the Lexar one as compared with other brands. First it was 4X, then, 8X then 16X, then 40X, then 80X, then 133X, now 300X. My cameras went from 3.3 MP then several 8 MP, now 12.8 MP so there was a need for faster and larger cards. Well Lexar has kept up. I now have 5 of the 8GB 300X. I still use the 8 GB 133X as well as some 40 and 80X cards. The difference I notice is down loading my images to my computer, the 300X is way faster with a proper card reader. Even with the express card reader on my laptop in the field the 300X card downloads the 8 GB faster. Also when shooting a burst of pictures, whether its getting the right image at sporting events or a bird in flight, with either my Canon 20D or now the Canon 5D, I never have to wait for the files to write to the cards.

I like the peace of mind that comes from the quality of Lexar products. I spend a lot of time, effort, and money getting the images and the thought of loosing them due to card problems is unimaginable. I also no doubt will be getting the Canon 1DS Mark IIII in the near future, and like the idea than the cards I am now using will be fast enough to keep up with the 21 MP camera. So no regrets.

bought this for use on my D300 and they are a deadly quick combo.

it will save over 1K images shooting on the large/fine JPEG setting and a little over 300 images on RAW.

1 Star Not pleased
I ordered this 8 gig card with new horizons in mind. I shoot with a professional Canon 10D EOS. My camera, after 3.4 gigs was used up on the Lexar card, could no longer write to the card fast enough and all images become corrupt thereafter. Since I had only read positive reviews for the card, I was way to sure of this card and used it during a wedding shoot. I’m thankful I had plenty of 1 and 2 gig cards as back up. Further investigation opened up the notion that this card cannot be maximized by any camera other then the higher end SLR professional cameras that are new to the market – so if you don’t own a high end SLR and just have a normal SLR professional like myself, this card isn’t going to work for you. Atleast not past 3.4 gigs.

I would definitely put Lexar and SanDisk in the same category as the best memory cards on the market today. The UDMA Lexar 8GB is the perfect CF card for large format DSLR cameras. Especially for RAW format users.
